par Karl DonvilLa Louviere is a small show in a small town close to the border of France. It is a CAC show and that means always a show of smaller size. But it is a cosy show where a lot of exhibitors like to show their dogs, new ones, puppies, veterans and champions of course too.
The show is spread over two days too as the halls are not large enough to make it a one day show. The amount of subscriptions increased slightly compared to last years edition and ended up with 762 dogs, which is not bad at all.Most of the dogs came from Belgium, but there were also a good number of dogs from France and even from Holland, Germany, Luxemburg. Surprisingly there was even a dog from the USA California, a Griffon Bruxellois and one from Switserland.
Unfortunately the catalogue was not so elaborated and I miss statistics on judges etc.
But I can assure you that when you see the photos of the winning dogs, you will agree with me that also the smaller shows have a lot to offer and attract very nice quality too.
On important remark is that Mr.Klein from France judged the Chihuahua's here, but also 14 days ago in Genk and I was told that he judged this breed a few weeks before also in this area. This is a mistake from him, the committee and the Royal Society of St Hubert as this prevents exhibitors to subscribe every time again under the very same judge. In order to have your title of champion you needs several judges and not always the same. Besides that it is not interesting for the show to attract entries. Of course I will not say anything about the quality of this judge at all, but in respect of the exhibitors he should have refused to judge this breed.
Next years edition will be on 9 and 10 july. I hope we will all be happy to be there again in the cosy and familiar athmosphere that characterises this show so much.
