Our location in Wiltshire is ideal for Swissies with countryside and farms all around us and once the first Swissy arrives with us in Jan 2006 he will feel right at home.
My aim is to promote the Greater Swiss Mountain Dog in the UK and have the Kennel Club recognise them as a breed and then further down the road Swissies as we call them for short, will be able to go into the show ring, obedience etc. They are a lovely breed and mix well with Rotties and other breeds. The Greater Swiss Mountain Dog Club of Great Britain will be formed and the club will hold a Breed Registry containing all the imports into the UK with their relevant history. It has taken me 6 years to research, talk to breeders in Europe and the US and find out about health issues and breeding problems. Some would have given up but not me, now I’m almost there and my first Swissy will be coming to the UK in January 2006. I could have taken a puppy earlier but my aim is to introduce the best specimen to show and I am particular with my Rotties and I wont be any different with the Swissies. The majority of homes being pet homes it is very important to bring in a strong, healthy dog to breed on from so that the offspring have as few health issues as possible, none hopefully.
All our dogs will be hip, elbow and shoulder x-rayed and put through Character Tests. Our first breed being Rottweilers we hip and elbow x-ray and character test. All our dogs live as part of the family and the pups are reared in our home with our son.
