par Karl DonvilAMBIORIX TROPHY 2009
Small but nice, cozy and well organized. That is what could be said of the 10th Ambiorix Trophy, the second one with CAC title. 1049 Dogs were entered for this show, coming from 9 different countries, 683 from Belgium, 250 from Holland, 147 from Germany, and 42 from France. Besides that 6 more came from Luxembourg, 1 from Denmark, 2 from Switzerland and there were even 4 entries from the UK and one from the USA.
10 Judges were invited to judge all those dogs. Most came from Belgium, it is a National show anyway. From Slovenia Mr.Rotner Rajko was invited to judge Group 2 and 5 dogs on Saturday, 71 all together, and part of the Terrier Group on Sunday. From Poland Mr.Piotr Kroll here to judge breeds from group 7 and 9 on Saturday. He had 51 in total. He shared Terriers with Mr Rotner on Sunday and a few Retriever breeds.
Special guest was Mrs. Kuleshova Elena from Russia. She had a very busy schedule on Saturday, ending up with 132 dogs to judge, from Group 2 and Group 9. She had 42 Newfoundlanders . On Sunday she was less busy with 52 dogs.
She had the highest score, but also Mr.Piet Roosenboom from Belgium had a nice entry again on Saturday with 120 dogs from Group 2, 5 and 9. The French Bulldogs, that are very popular nowadays, were 35 all together, present to be judged by him. All high scores were on Saturday which is quite normal as over 600 dogs were on term then, which is more then half of the entries.
One remark! Although the podium was decorated with flowers, attention should be paid to not to cover up the dogs, especially the small breeds and perhaps the podium could use facelift.
3th BIS was a Shih Tzu, judged by Mrs. Kuleshova and made Best of Group 9 by Mr.Piotr. Xeralane’s Face The Glamour is almost two years old and owned by Burkas Anastasia. 2nd BIS went to the Suomenlapinkoira “Ukalouk des Chevaloupsgreg “, owned by Mattheus-Janssens Ronny. He was entered in Champions Class for judge Theo Leenen and made Best of Group 5 by Mr.Roosenboom. Mrs. Mariette Van Herle-Stevens from Belgium picked out the Irish Red Setter “Ardan Of Funny Home” from Smits Jean as BIS show. Ardan was also judged in Champions Class by Mrs.Leen Van Genechten from Belgium, a newcomer in the world of judging and breeder of Gordon Setters and Field Spaniels. It was Mr.Theo Leenen who made him Best of Group 7.
All three dogs were judged on Saturday and came back for the finals on Sunday.
Next Ambiorix Trophy is organized next year on 25 &26 or April. Be there, I guarantee you a nice show in a most friendly atmosphere.
