12e Ambiorixtrophy Genk  -  Belgium

dogs breeders dog pictures by Karl Donvil
Ambiorixtrophy Genk 2010, an unbelievably good score for a CAC show! The show is named after Ambiorix, a tribesman and leader of the resistance during the invasion and occupation of the Romans. Although Belgians hardly have a national feeling, not alike in most other countries we all know this hero. This small show is only offering a national title (so far), but alike the tribe of Ambiorix, this club is not unnoticed and even popular amongst exhibitors.

The show was OK as usual. Unfortunately the weather was very bad again that weekend and even worse in my opinion than Hoogstraten and Mouscron. This affects always the number of visitors, but no-one complained as the show is always in such a nice atmosphere. The halls were ornamented with hearts made with small balloons for St.Valentine. Small details can make a lot of difference and contribute to the overall feeling.

Again we note a growth of 10% compared to last year that was already successful, good for no less than 1260 exhibits. 14 Judges were invited, but only 3 of them were foreigners. Mr.Dosen from Serbia-Montenegro had a busy Sunday with 79 dogs, 99 over the two days. Mr.Kroll from Poland is a regular guest here and although he comes very often in Belgium, he had 124 entries of which 103 on Saturday. He has the day record that way and thanks this good score mainly to the 51 Amstaffs and the 21 Shelties. Mrs. Heine from Germany had 106 dogs over both days. Some Belgian judges had very nice scores too. Mrs.Reyniers had 111 dogs over both days. Her partner Mr.T.Leenen was more busy as he had 164 entries. On Saturday 24 Collies and 32 Golden Retrievers turned up for him. Mrs.P.Roosenboom had a total number of 154 dogs. On Saturday he had 40 Border Collies and on Sunday 39 bernese Mountain dogs. Mrs.Liliane Deridder was the show record holder for this edition. She ended up with 82 dogs on Saturday and no less than 100 dogs on Sunday, included 37 Bulldogs. I want to mention Mr.Vanhoenacker too who judged on Sunday only but who had 34 French Bulldogs and Mrs.Van Beveren-Guldemont who had 46 Chihuahuas on Sunday.

Mr.Kroll was granted the honor to pick out the Best In Show dog. All group winners of Saturday were asked to return on Sunday for the finals. “Love Generation von Taishan” was judged by Mr.T.Leenen as breed and as group judge. He is a 4 year old Miniature Spitz, produced and owned by Heidi Thieme from Germany. He ended 3rd BIS. “ Florreke Lighthouse Family “ is the Belgian Multi Champion Beagle, bred and owned by the family Dielens-Abrams. He went last year to the Eukanuba World Challenge to defend the Belgian colours there. Florreke is also 4 years old now and was judged by Mrs.Latroye, who also judged the Group. He was the Runner up to Best In Show. BIS went to the Lhasa Apso “Nikita” from Holland. He is bred and owned by Mrs. Marion Radstok. Nikita was already BIS in Hoogstraten a few weeks ago. Nikita is a very nice dogs and a worthy winner.

I hope to see you next edition, but on 3 and 4 July you are welcome again in Limburg halls for the CACIB show of the club of Genk.
