door Kiriakos KontadakisThe Athens Canine Society, the cynophilic club of the capital city of Greece, has organized it's International Show during the "Diana" Hunting Exhibition, in the Mediterranean Excibition Center "M.E.C." in Paiania (part of Attica).
The first CACIB Show of the year, was a nice, well organized show, reflecting the hard work of the Board of Directors and the members, and it was the 24th International Show in the history of the Society.BIS title was awarded by the well known allrounder Horst Kliebenstein to the impressive Old English Sheepdog Gr.Ch. Rollingview Aryakas Electra , daughter of the great "CJ" (Multi CH. Aryakas Cosmo Junior), bred and owned by B.Marchand & S.Berretta.
Large rings but little space around them were some of the advantages and disadvantages of the showplace. Good promotion of the purebred cynophilia (because of the Diana Exhibition around the Dog Show), little space fot the exhibitors around the rings. Wonderful carpet on the rings, difficulties for the handlers to move between rings. Many plusses and some minuses....that did not affect the atmosphere of the show.
Special guests of the Athens Canine Society, were Mr. Kenneth Edh (Sweden), Mr. Kliebenstein (Germany), Mr. Staunskjaer (Denmark), Mr.Salas (Spain), Mr. Drivas (Greece), Mr. Kostopoulos (Greece) and Mr. Doulos (Greece).
The Show was held in two days, in five (5) rings, it started with the Groups 2,3,4,6,9 and 10 on Saturday (5.4.2008) and was completed on Sunday (6.4) with the Groups 1,5,7 and 8 and the Finals.
At the end, Mr. Kliebenstein has chosen the four BIS winners. The ten finalists were the following:
From Group 1, the Old English Sheepdog Gr.Ch. Rollingview Aryakas Electra , daughter of the great CJ (Multi CH. Aryakas Cosmo Junior), bred and owned by B.Marchand & S.Berretta.She was BOG winner by Mr. Staunskjaer.
BOG 2, chosen by Mr. Staunskjaer was the three years old Norwegian bred Rottweiler (P. Anderssen & L. Mai) bitch Kneika's Je-Lazy from the Working Class, and BOB winner among 40 rotties by Mr. Kenneth Edh. Happy owner Mr.Papandreou from Greece.
BOG of Group 3, was the Am.Can.Ch. Qoccle's Hot Gossip, Italian bred (Mrs.Pollini) male Yorkshire Terrier, owned by M. Dodson (USA).He was the BOG winner of Mr. KennethEdh, and the BOB winner of Mr.Salas.
BOG 4, according to Mr. Staunskjaer, was the Italian bred (Bauchal) but Greek owned (Mr. Kourouklis) female Miniature Wirehaired Dachshund Bauchal's Odessa.She was BOB by Mr. Kliebenstein.
BOG of the Spitz and primitive breeds (Group 5) the female American Akita Melodor Burn the Witch from the open class. Bred in the UK (C. McLean) but lives in Italy. She was the BOB and the BOG according to Mr. Kenneth Edh.
Best of the 6th Group, was the WW06 MultiCh. Woferlow Single Malt, male Basset Hound, Bred in the UK (D.J. Newman) but italian owned (Terra dei Templari), he was BOB by Mr. Kliebenstein and BOG by Mr. Kenneth Edh.
BOG 7 was chosen by Mr. Kenneth Edh, and it was the impressive seven years old male German Shorthaired Pointing Dog Prophet Elias's Rigoletto, BOB winner among 36 specimens of the breed. He is Greek bred (Mr.Ondria) and owned (Despotopoulos - Ondria).
Best of the 8th Group, the five year old male Labrador Retriever Gr.Ch.RCW06 Ugo du Cercle de Samson, born in France (V.Reus) and owned by Mrs.Weber M. & Mr.Zaroliagis C. he was the BOB and the BOG winner of Mr. Staunskjaer.
The 9th Group was judged by Mr. Kliebenstein, who has sent to the podium Nr.1, the black male Toy Poodle Beau The Erotas of the Athenian Stars, bred and owned by Mrs Richard (GR). The BOG 9 winner was BOB by Mr. Staunskjaer.
Finally, BOG 10 was the male Whippet Absolute Mann Mr President, from the intermediate Class, Italian bred and owned (Absolute Mann Kennel). He was BOB by Mr. Staunskjaer and BOG by Mr.Kliebenstein.
Best in Show Winner of Mr. Kliebenstein was the Female BOBTAIL, RBIS the female ROTTWEILER, and BIS 3, the BASSET HOUND.
