Lynn Luckock's six-and-a-half year old Ob Ch Hawksflight Fantasia (Freya) was the best in a field of twenty-six dogs. Second place (reserve) was won by Kim Innes and Ob Ch Barlingo Go Balistic (Yaz).
Lynn Luckock and Freya went into scentwork in second place and just a a half point ahead of Kim Innes and Yaz. The leader at that point failed scent work, leaving the top slots to Freya and Yaz. The Belgian widened the gap by a quarter point in the scentwork exercise.
Lorranie Bennett and Ob Ch Kajo Class Act had the best heelwork of the day (two and three-quarters points), but scentwork was their undoing.
Kim Innes and Yaz won the Crufts Obedience Championship two years ago and missed repeating the accomplishment this year by just three-quarters of a point.
The other placements went to Liz Llewellyn and Llynellen Spring Loaded OW (third), Rachael Young and Ob Ch Jarysmystic Magic Knockout (fourth), Kathy Ingham and Ruskath Othentic Image (fifth), and Dot Watts and Ob Ch Zygdan Zyma (sixth).
Scentwork proved to be a challenging exercise for both the bitches on Friday and the dogs on Saturday with half the dogs failing the exercise both days.
