This weekend, the Fort Washington Expo Center is a giant doghouse, as the prestigious Philadelphia Dog Shows expand to four days of dynamic family activity with fascinating stories and great visuals. Following unbenched shows Thursday and Friday, November 14 and 15, the Kennel Club of Philadelphia (KCP) presents its two benched shows on Saturday the 16th and Sunday the 17th. Saturday?s show hosts the first ?The National Dog Show Presented by PurinaŽ?. 20,000 people are expected to visit the unique KCP shows to catch all the judging, shop dozens of vendors and interact with more than 1,700 dogs and their people in the benching area. Tickets, available at the door, are $10 for adults; $5 for children under 12. Public info on the Dog Shows is at www.philadogshow.com or 610-627-1911.

.November?s Dog Days in Fort Washington: 2002 Dog Shows Expand to Four Days;

Kennel Club of Philadelphia Hosts ?The National Dog Show Presented by Purina??

Bigger will be better for the Philadelphia Dog Shows, which in 2002 expand to four days -- November 14, 15, 16, and 17 -- and host the first edition of ?The National Dog Show Presented by PurinaŽ? for national broadcast on NBC-TV on Thanksgiving Day.

The Fort Washington Expo Center in Fort Washington, PA is again the site of this prestigious dog event and great family tradition, expected to draw more than 20,000 people over the weekend. Following unbenched shows on Thursday and Friday, November 14th and 15th, the Kennel Club of Philadelphia (KCP) will present its two shows on Saturday the 16th and Sunday the 17th. Unlike ?show and go? dog shows, the KCP benched shows encourage the public to interact with the dogs and their owners or handlers, who remain for most of the day in the ?backstage? benching area.

"Ours is one of only six benched shows remaining in the US," said Show Chairman Charles H. Schaefer. ?Benched shows are informative and entertaining for adults and children. Whether you're looking for a family pet or checking out the pedigreed competition, you'll get a lot from visiting with the 'stars of the show'."

The Saturday, November 16 Kennel Club of Philadelphia Dog Show will be seen by a national audience as ?The National Dog Show Presented by PurinaŽ?. NBC-TV will tape the day?s action and produce a two-hour family television special for broadcast at noon on November 28, immediately following the network?s live coverage of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York CIty.
