by António Arrais With some varieties of this breed presenting so few specimens registered in the LOP (putting them in danger of extinction), it is still surprising the elevated number of inscriptions made in this 15 th Special Dog Show of the Portuguese Warren Hound, about 150.
This number of inscriptions is due manly to the increasing interest that some varieties of this breed have been awaking in Portuguese and foreigner breeders, being present this year 10 specimens born in countries like England and the Netherlands.
The merit of this attending is due not only to the breeders, but also to the excellent job that the Portuguese Warren Hound Breed Club has been making.
One of the signs of this good work is the satisfaction that its associates show in participating in the event, showing trust and delight in the choosing of the judges and place of the show, very important facts for the big number of inscriptions.
These are all the factors that leads us to think that the Breed Clubs are fundamental to the future and handling of specimens of these breeds and its support are the determinant factor for these breeds to come out of the danger of extinction line.
Im my opinion, we, the reporters can also help the Breed Clubs a little and my part in it is to show (trough the photos i take) you these magnificent specimens, and who knows maybe you are one of the future interested in being a new breeder of these dogs.
