news - 07/02/2004 11st Int Dog Show of Vila Franca Xira - Portugal
by António Arrais The 11th International Dog Show of Vila Franca de Xira, was realized in the weekend of 7th and 8th of February, and had the attendance of more or less 600 great dogs of different breeds, which made the public present in the Urban Pavilion enjoy themselves.
The reason of this event success was the fact that its organization was so demanding in abiding by the schedules previously planed, in the choice of the awards chosen and the judges invited, choosing the ones with a expertise in the breeds judged.
As for the great awards of this show the judgement of BIS PUPPIES and BEST IN SHOW was placed upon the finish judge Leif-Lehmann Jorgensen and the French judge, Jacques Médard-Ringuet.
The 3rd place of BIS PUPPIES was occupied by the French Bulldog Ulisse de La Renaissance du Phenix, the 2nd by the Standard Dacshund Wire- Haired Borba da Casa Amarela and in 1st the Labrador Retriever Júnior da Quinta das Tílias, all of them registered in the Portuguese origins book.
In the podium of the Best in Show we could see in 3rd place the dog of the 7th group, Irish Setter James Brown do Canil Casal da Vinha, being that this breeder won also the 1st place of the 1st group and the 4th in Portuguese Breeds.
The 2nd place was placed upon the 2nd group dog Boxer Apolo Boxer Del Euro, registered in LOE, and owned by Sebastian Serra and Juan Fuster.
The Best in Show, was awarded to the 7th group dog of the breed Golden Retriever, named Stanroph Sparking Sky owned by Cristina M. Ramalheira Araújo. A little of this merit must be awarded to its handler Joana Correia which helped very much in the wining of this result.
