by Janet AtkinsThe 128th Annual Westminster Kennel Club was held at Madison Square Garden in New York, NY on Feburary 9 - 10, 2004. The nationally televised event featured 2,624 which included Junior Showmanship. All 162 breeds and varieties were represented at the show.
The Best in Show was awarded to a Newfoundland "Josh" Darbydale's All rise Rounchcove out of the Working Group by BIS Judge Mr. Burton J. Yamada. The Group Winners featured a Sussex Spaniel from the Sporting Group; an Ibizan Hound from the Hound Group; a Newfoundland fromt he Working Group (BIS); a Norfolk Terrier from the Terrier Group; a Pekingese from the Toy Group; a Standard Poodle from the Non-Sporting Group and a Welsh Pembroke Corgis from the Herding Group.
Three newly recognized breeds competed for the first time at Westminster: the Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers (16 entries); German Pinschers (17); and Toy Fox Terriers.
